Brave Dad: Raising Your Kids to Love and Follow Jesus by John MacArthur:
This short book is a great starting point for dads who have not thought much about how they are going to lead their children spiritually. John MacArthur walks dads through being the spiritual leader in their children’s lives by starting from the beginning and moving through the years. His approach is intensely biblical, encouraging and practical, beginning with the WHY and then moving into the HOW.
There are things that dad can teach girls by example that no one else can teach them by talking. In this book, Dr. Meeker outlines these areas of life where, if they pay attention, fathers can raise their girls to be strong, confident, feminine women
In this classic, Dr. Dobson skillfully and loving deals with the issue of stubbornness in children and parents. How can we keep peace in the home, how can we help our kids redeem these characteristics that cause us difficulty so they can be successful adults? How can we honor God in the struggle? If you have these questions, this is the book for you.
This storybook takes a journey through the most beloved stories of the Bible, explains them with captivating illustrations for the wee ones, and with a vocabulary fit for a 2nd grade reading level. It tells each story in a biblically faithful way (Pastor Dustin approves) and ties each Old Testament story to the coming of Jesus and the Gospel. A true masterpiece for early childhood evangelism and discipleship!
An instant classic, this tiny coffee-table book walks through how a dad or mom can set the tone in the home spiritually in a way that is natural, non-stuffy, and biblically faithful. Warning: Whitney places less emphasis on the importance of catechisms than Pastor Dustin does, but regardless, this little book is a must-read for every spiritual leader of a home.
Raising a Modern Day Knight by Robert Lewis:
Robert Lewis gets dads thinking about all the things our boys need to become godly men which the culture has largely ignored or lost. A values system, a ceremonial entrance into manhood etc. These are things our boys can only get from us.
by June Hunt: They say parenting doesn’t come with a manual. True, but this book is about as close as a parent can get. Comprised of short, 2-3 page sections on issues, parents can read up on godly principles for handling things like lying, cheating, cell phone addiction, behavior problems in the car, name-calling, sexual curiosity etc. Keep this book close and refer to it often.
by Josh and Dottie McDowell: The topic of sex is one of the scariest and most neglected topics by Christian parents. We don’t want to release our kids into the world unprepared for the temptation, deception and danger they will face. And we know that if we don’t teach them what sexuality is all about, the world, the flesh and the devil will. But HOW do we go about training them up? The McDowells will equip you here to cut through all the awkwardness of the conversations, all the questions about what words to use and what terms to avoid, and will teach you to communicate God’s truth with wisdom and gentleness. Let’s protect our kids from sexual damage.
